About my business I created..
I am an affordable "Professional Face Painter" (see below article "How to know if you have hired a REAL professional face painter.") I started face painting over 7 years ago at Scenic View Campground, in Warren NH at the base of the beautiful White Mountains of NH. It grew like a fever and the next thing I knew I had a booth at the Warren Old Home Days 3 day event. The North Country News, a local newspaper to Warren, published photos of my work 2 years in a row. One being a large front page photo of a local girl painted as a tiger. NH To Do magazine  (photo below) also featured a large photo of a little girl with sparkly face flowers that I painted at the Hillsborough Hot Air Balloon Festival & Fair in their article on NH Fairs & Festivals April 2008 addition. Catch me on youtube as well.
The children always line up eager to become something new, my excitement and pleasure quickly came from the children's faces and most precious reactions. My slogan immediately was dubbed
"It's the face painting they hate to wash off"
How true that has become. Many, many parents tell me how difficult it is to have their child wash their face afterwards. As I pursued it further, I created and built my website from the ground up to promote my love for painting elaborate faces and a way to showcase my work and list events I will be at publicly. Formally introducing my website and fabulously blossoming business to the public in 2003. I started by doing children's birthday parties and daycare events. The unique art form caught on like wild fire. Currently, there are more and more face painters popping up than ever before. Be sure they are professionals and only use FDA compliant make up or paint.  The designs on my site are for anyone to reinterpret, like a snowflake every design is unique in itself.

What I do..
I have in the past, taught fellow painters the basics of getting started & more recently instructed a fellow painter in an intermediate level of instruction. Just email me & I will be happy to accommodate you or help to inspire your own individual style.

I have worked very hard and timelessly building my business, all on my own thoughts and ideas and transforming what I do to reflect my personality, the environment it is created and great desire to make children smile - I am extremely proud of what I have accomplished and how sucesful my business has become. Thank you to all my loyal patrons and anyone I have graced with paint in the past 7 years.

Thank you all again!

Please inquiry via email about these services. I have gathered extensive experience in the last 7 years. Participating in many local events ranging in size, including NASCAR NH Motor Speedway which hired me, for a M & Ms promotional event to Deerfield, Hopkinton, N. Haverhill and Sandwich fairs, festivals such as The Rock N Rib Fest in Merrimack, the Mall of NH, Mall at Rockingham and many Old Home Day events throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. Make a Face is very well known locally, and has many steady clients that repeat business year after year after year. Customer testimonials and outstanding references are listed on my website as well as "Current Events" published for the public to view and visit me. Many of the events and clients I serve are repeat business, that says allot.

Who am I..
I was born and raised in Nashua, NH and now reside in the great town of Merrimack. I have always had an eye for color and a passion for art. Raised in an art filled home, creativity runs through my veins naturally. At the tender age of 8, a mountain scape I drew won a elementary competition and was put on display in the window of the old Nashua Trust building on Main St. in Nashua back in the 70s. Although my schooling focused on the arts, I have explored graphic arts, publications, oil paint, tolle painting, murals,  mosaics, pottery, drawing and crafting for at least 25 years. I have participated on & off over the last 20 or so years in local craft shows to display and sell my creations. Nothing held my interest in comparison to elaborate face painting and body art.

How it all started ..
It wasn't until my first trip to Disney with my family many years ago, that exposed me to full elaborate faces. A little girl I saw by the pool at Disney's Polynesian Resort at Disney World, with a sparkly tiger face inspired me instantly. It was most definitely fate knocking at my door. I knew I could deliver that level of art locally, and it fueled my desire to become a professional face painter. Having a seasonal site at Scenic View Campground in NH, at the base of the White Mountains only supplied me with all the children I could possibly paint & practise on - they are my original stars. It caught on like "wild fire" & I knew that was just the tip of the iceberg. NH was ready for an art explosion, that is incredibly popular in the southern states & now in NH. By launching my talent & website in 2003....here I am today - extremely well known & expected at most venues. By years of self teaching and dedication I began researching and learning as much as I could absorb through the internet, face painting forums, as well as relationships with successful fellow face painters from around the world and instructional videos and DVDs. I have poured myself into my business & let it take on a life of it's own, which has expanded into extra "special girl parties" or that extra special evening out which includes, semi formals, Jr. Proms, Proms & dances.

Additional Training & Techniques..
In May 2008, I attended the Face & Body Art International Convention (FABAIC) in Orlando Florida to learn more about face & body art as a business and to bring my own business to a new and exciting level. It is clear to me that the love of face painting has blossomed into a career that I love and crave to do. To further my abilities in 2009, I went to Disney to be inspired with new ideas and creativity. I came back with many new and exciting ideas to offer. Education is on going & continual for the life of my business. I continue to strive towards the "Best Ever" in my field. In 2010, I intend to fly to St. Maarten to tap into the "Tropical" exposure of face & body art designs & techniques. Be ready for a true tropical nature of artwork & ideas - fresh from the islands.

Booking purposes..
To ensure the date you would like, please book early, especially in the nicer months. Make A Face is fully insured so one can book with confidence. I call a few days prior to your event in order to confirm the details. I take my commitments very seriously to make the day as special as possible and leave one with no worries. Make A Face requires no deposit just payment day of services, cash or check accepted. Based out of Merrimack, NH. Make A Face will travel to your event destination arriving with everything that is needed you supply the children. Children can't wait to climb up into the painting chair to be "transformed" into whatever their hearts or imagination desires.

The Paints I use..
A word about my paints............face paint has evolved tremendously over the last 15 or so years. It is all FDA approved & Hypo-Allergenic. It does not cake, flake or smudge off when dry. All paints that I use are a theatrical grade of professional make up that can not be bought in a craft store with brand names such as Wolfe Brothers, Mehron, Paradise, Snazaroo and Krylon to name a few. They are all FDA Approved for use on the skin and have a antibacterial agent added to them so they are totally safe for any age. It is VERY rare to have any kind of reaction. The paint is removed easily with soap and water or baby wipes. Face paint should ALWAYS be water soluble & deemed safe for use on the skin.
ACRYLIC PAINT IS NEVER USED NOR SHOULD IT EVER BE APPLIED TO THE SKIN, it is not safe & if you read the label it is great for paper, wood, cement, plastic but NEVER human skin.

About your event..
Book with confidence and always make sure the painter is a "REAL" PROFESSIONAL. (see below "What it takes to be a REAL professional face painter".) I have witnessed other painters out there at fairs that are using "Acrylic paint" or "craft paint" (a huge no-no) that is not meant to be used on skin, especially the sensitive skin of a young child. These people may be selling their services but they are not what I like to call REAL professionals. Anyone can pick up some paints at the craft store for less than a dollar each and buy space at a fair and paint on a child. That does not make them a REAL professional.  Be sure, Be safe...ALWAYS ask.
Great addition to a  birthday party or any type of gathering, private parties to large scale community events.

"How to know if you have hired a REAL professional face painter"
    by  Joan Langdon

* A REAL professional uses professional face paint that is really highly-pigmented makeup formulated for use on the skin. All paint is FDA Approved for use on the skin.

* A REAL professional adheres to sensible sanitary practices and will not paint the face of a child who might have a cold or some kind of skin irritation. They sanitize all items used daily and adhere to strict cleanliness guidelines. An alternative such as painting on the child's arm is offered if painting on the face is not an option.

* A REAL professional carries liability insurance. If they have a business worth protecting, they are willing to invest in the cost of insurance.

* A REAL professional knows how to handle a large crowd or over excited children.

* A REAL professional has taken workshops and attends jams where they learn how to    paint beautiful designs quickly or switch to something suitable on a restless child. Education is ongoing and continual for the life of your business.

* A REAL professional won't paint a screaming child because the parent insists they want the child to be painted. This will only instill a fear of face painting in the child and when he or she is older make him miss out on the fun of being painted. Sometimes a heart painted on mommies hand first helps to ensure it is fun and painless.

* A REAL professional would never use craft glitter that can harm the eyes of a child or adult. They only use cosmetic glitter sold by the same reputable vendors who sell quality face paints.

* And finally, a REAL professional loves what they do because what could be more fun than seeing the face of a child light up when they look in the mirror and see themselves transformed into a tiger, princess, Spiderman or other character!
